## Math fraction solve online

Introduction :

In this tutorial we are going to discuss comparison of fraction using `>` , `<` and `=` sign, which is going to help students in learning about fractions online.

A fraction is a part of the whole which can be represented by `a/b` where a is the numerator and b is the denominator. Unit fractions are fractions which involves unity for example `1/3` , `1/5` etc. For comparing fractions we need to follow certain rules:

Example On Fractions:

The, LCM of 5 and 9 is 45

`therefore` the LCD of `4/5` and `2/9` = 45

`4/5` = `( 4 * 9)/(5 * 9)` = `36/45`

`2/9` = `(2 * 5)/(9* 5)` = `10/45`

i.e`36/45` `>` `10/45`

Therefore, `4/5` > `2/9` .

The LCM of 13 and 5 is 65

`therefore` The LCD of `12/13` and `1/5` is 65

`12/13` = `(12*5)/(13*5)` = `60/65`

`1/5` = `(1*13)/(5*13)` = `13/65`

i.e. `60/65` > `13/65`

Hence, `12/13` > `1/5`

Practice Problems On Math Fraction:

In this tutorial we are going to discuss comparison of fraction using `>` , `<` and `=` sign, which is going to help students in learning about fractions online.

A fraction is a part of the whole which can be represented by `a/b` where a is the numerator and b is the denominator. Unit fractions are fractions which involves unity for example `1/3` , `1/5` etc. For comparing fractions we need to follow certain rules:

**Rule1:**If the denominators are same we compare the numerator of the given fraction and accordingly we put the sign. For example: `5/4` > `3/4` as the numerator 5 `>` 3.**Rule2:**If the denominators are different we first need to make the denominators same by doing some simplification.First we need to find the " least common denominator" then we need to write equivalent fractions using the LCD and then compare the fractions by using the numerator.Example On Fractions:

**Pro 1: Compare the fraction `4/5` and `2/9` using `>` , `<` and `=` sign.****Sol:****Step1:**Here we see that the given fractions `4/5` and `2/9` has different denominators.**Step2:**Find the LCD of both the given fractions. The, LCM of 5 and 9 is 45

`therefore` the LCD of `4/5` and `2/9` = 45

**Step3:**Find Equivalent Fractions using LCD.`4/5` = `( 4 * 9)/(5 * 9)` = `36/45`

`2/9` = `(2 * 5)/(9* 5)` = `10/45`

**Step4:**Now we compare fractions and we see the numerator of `36/45` is greater than `10/45`i.e`36/45` `>` `10/45`

Therefore, `4/5` > `2/9` .

**Pro 2: Compare The Fractions `12/13` and `1/5`using `>` , `<` and `=` sign.****Sol:****Step1:**Here in the given fractions `12/13` and `1/5` the denominators are different.**Step2:**Find the LCD of both the fractions. The LCM of 13 and 5 is 65

`therefore` The LCD of `12/13` and `1/5` is 65

**Step3:**Write equivalent fraction using LCD.`12/13` = `(12*5)/(13*5)` = `60/65`

`1/5` = `(1*13)/(5*13)` = `13/65`

**Step4:**Now we compare the fractions using numerators of `60/65` and `13/65`i.e. `60/65` > `13/65`

Hence, `12/13` > `1/5`

Practice Problems On Math Fraction:
