## Algebra 1 functions list

**Introduction :**

In mathematics, the algebra 1 of a function list is the collection of all ordered pairs (x, f(x)). An algebra 1 function list is a special type of relation with x and y values. In an algebra function, no two ordered pairs can have the same first element and a different second element. That is, for an algebra function, correspond to each first element of the ordered pairs; there must be a different second element.

**Example 1:**

**Solve the graph of the power functions f : R → R+ defined**

by (1) f(x) = 8x (2) f(x) = 9x

**Solution:**

For all these function f(x) = 1 when x = 0. Exponential functions they cut the y- axis at y = 1. Hence the corresponding curve to the above functions does not meet the x-axis for real x power functions. (or meet the x-axis at − ∞) In particular the curve corresponding to f(x) lies the curves corresponding to 8x and 9x .

**Example 2**:

Draw the graph of y = 2x2 – 8

**Solution**:

Mark the scales on the graph sheet on x-axis 1 cm = 1 unit and on y-axis 1 cm = 2 units. Assigning the value x = –2 to 2 we calculate the values for y and prepare the following table

We plot the points list (–2,-4), (–1,–6), (0, –8), (1, –6), (2,-4), on the graph sheet. Join these point by a smooth curve we get the required graph of the parabola y = 2x2 – 8

**Example 3:**

Draw the graph of the reciprocal function of the function

f(x) = 5x.

**Solution:**

The reciprocal function of f(x) is

Thus g(x) = =1/ 5x

Here the domain of

g(x) = R − {set of points x for which f(x) = 0}

= R − {0}
