My algebra solver for fractions

Introduction:

Algebra fractions :

A fraction is a number that can represent part of a whole. The earliest fractions were reciprocals of integers: ancient symbols representing one part of two, one part of three, one part of four, and so on. A much later development was the common or "vulgar" fractions which are still used today (½, ⅝, ¾, etc.) and which consist of a numerator and denominator.

Solver:

A solver is a generic term indicating a piece of mathematical software, possibly in the form of a stand-alone computer program or as a software library, that 'solves' a mathematical problem.(Source: Wikipedia)

Through this article we are going to learn about types of algebra fractions and solving fraction problems by using algebra solver.

Types of fractions in my algebra solver fractions :
In general, there are three types of fractions.

1. Proper fraction

2. Improper fractions

3. Mixed fraction

Proper fraction help:

A fraction is of the form a/b, where b > a

Example:

`2/3` , `56 /78` , `100 /101` ……

Improper fraction:

A fraction is of the form a/b, where a > b

Example:

`3/2` , `78/56` , `101/100` …….

Mixed fraction:

A fraction is of the form  a `b/c` . Here a = Quotient.

                                      b = Remainder

                                      c = Divisor.

Example:

3 `4/5` , 6 `19/34` …..

Problems on my algebra solver fractions:
Problem 1:

Find 2 equivalent fractions to 3/5 by using algebra fraction solver.

Solution:

Given , fraction 3/5

We need to find the equivalent fraction to `3/5`

Multiply 3/5 by 2 on both numerator and denominator,

`3/5` = `( 3 * 2 ) / (5 * 2)`

       = `6/ 10`

Equivalent fraction to `3/5 ` = `6 / 10` .

Multiply `3/5` by 5 on both numerator and denominator,

`3/5` = `( 3 * 5) / ( 5 * 5 )`

        = `15/ 25`

Equivalent fraction to `3/5` = `6 /10` = `15 /25`

Answer: 2 equivalent fractions of `3 / 5` is `6/ 10` , `15 /25`

Problem 2:

How to reduce 26 as a fraction using algebra fraction solver?

Solution :

Given, Number 26.

We need to reduce it as a fraction.

Multiply and divide 26 by the same number.

So Multiply and divide 26 by 2,

26 = 26 `( 2 / 2)`

      = (26 * 2)  / 2

      = `52 / 2`

The fraction for 26 is `52 / 2` .

Answer: Fraction for 26 is `52 / 2` .

Problem 3:

Divide the fractions `14/18` ÷ `7/9`

Solution:

Given, `14/18` ÷ `7/9`

`14/18` -> Dividend

`7/9` -> Divisor

Take a reciprocal of the divisor,

Reciprocal of `7/9` = `9/7`

Multiply the reciprocal of divisor by the dividend.

`14/18` * `9/7` = (14 * 9) / ( 18 * 7)

                 = `126 / 126`

                 = 1

Answer: `14/18` ÷ `7/9` = 1
